About Me

My Photo
The story thus far... Just an average college student from Smallville, New York, Jessica had no idea about the future that lay in store for her. One day, on her way home from school, she was not bitten by a mutant spider or caught in the middle in some sort of accident involving radioactivity. As we know now, radiation would not induce super human abilities, but more likely cause cancer. From humble beginnings came Super Jessica! As opposed to any other other superhero who either has real powers or who bought them, she has only non-super powers, but she is super at them. Among Super Jessica’s abilities are knitting, baking, trivia, sarcasm, and data entry. And, now, for our adventure...

Great Moments in Socks

I have made a great leap in my love of sock knitting. Yesterday, I cast on a new pair of socks even though I already had a pair in progress. This is unprecedented for me. Mostly because, until recently, I've only had one set of sock needles.
I started a pair of My Vampire Boyfriend at the beginning of March. I named the project Eric Northman, who is played by very sexy Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard on the HBO series "True Blood".
I'm using two size 2 (2.75 mm) circular needles and 1 skein of Knit Picks Stroll Kettle Dyed Sock in Wine.
They are far too complicated to work on in class, so they are reserved for the evenings, after I've finished my homework and I'm watching Jordanna play video games or waiting for my casserole to come out of the oven. Therefore, they have been coming along rather slowly. Right now, I'm most of the way through the heel flaps.

I cast on a pair of Spring Forward yesterday for the April Sock Knitters Anonymous. I'm using 1 skein of SWTC Tofutsies in Four Leaf TOEver, which knits at 8 sts/inch instead of 7.5, as called for in the pattern, but I think it'll be fine. I'm about six rows into the cuffs. I'm also using two size 2 (2.75 mm) circular needles for these socks.
These have a pattern simple enough to keep track of while also paying attention to my professors or watching "Jeopardy!". These should knit up much quicker than the others and I may in fact finish both pairs around the same time.

Once I finish one pair, I will post again with the progress on the other.
Happy sock knitting!
